KYC Governance
~ Proposals to Amend the KYC By-Laws ~
In response to discussion at the 2007 Annual General Meeting of the Members, Commodore Rob Colwell struck the KYC By-Laws Review Committee, charging it to review, revise as appropriate and present to the Board of Directors for its review and comment, recommendations for revisions to the By-Laws of the Kingston Yacht Club, 2007 edition.
The Committee consisted of Jr. Past Commodore Ralph Shaw (Chair), Past Commodore Tim Irwin and KYC Member Rick Sellens. The Committee's Report was submitted to the KYC Board of Directors at their meeting of the 18th February 2009. While generally in favour of the majority of its recommendations, the Board decided to propose six modifications or alternatives to some of the Committee's recommendations.
On the 20th May, 2009, the Board passed a motion to call a Special General Meeting of the Members (SGM), on or about Sunday, the 27th of September 2009, to present the findings and recommendations of the KYC By-Laws Review Committee and the six recommendations proposed by the Board, itself, to the Membership for its consideration. . so mark your calendars!
To help inform the Members about the proposed changes to the By-Laws, three documents are being made available on this page as portable document format (PDF) files which may be downloaded and viewed using Adobe Reader:
