| Beer of the Week

Zwickel

German-Style Auburn Lager 5.7% ABV

This unfiltered copper lager tastes like you walked right up to our tanks and poured it yourself. It combines satisfying flavours of just-baked bread with fresh grassy hop aromas, and is balanced and clean. Zwickelbiers are not meant for aging, and best served… right now!

History & Style

Beau’s Farm Table Series are sessionable beers brewed true to a classic or emerging style. A German style closely related to kellerbier, zwickelbier literally means beer sampled fresh from the tank cellar at the brewery. Beau’s first released this recipe in 2014 as “Dial Z for Zwickel,” an exclusive creation for Beau’s Oktoberfest. The label references the old name with a screen-print style homage to the many shapes and sizes of telephones over the years.

Tasting Notes

Zwickel pours copper with a slight haze and a dense white foam. The aroma has notes of fresh baked bread crust and a hint of peppery spice. The flavour features deep grainy malt balanced by clean hop bitterness. The finish is elegant and dry.

| Cruising Fleet Co-Chairs

“Some are born cruising, some achieve cruising, and some have a Cruising Fleet thrust upon 'em”.
-William Shakespeare, “Twelfth Cruise”.

We are pleased to be responsible for the advancement of cruising at KYC this coming year. We hope to broaden the cruising mandate to include both organized event cruising as well as individual cruising; both local cruising and long-distance cruising beyond our waters. We plan to promote and publicize cruisers’ accomplishments and honour them with additional cruising awards.

Unfortunately, due to lateness of our “volunteering” the annual fall Cruisers AGM will now be held March 30th at 6pm at the Club. Please put this event in your calendars. More detail to follow.

We are also introducing Cruisers’ Muster Wednesdays from 5-6pm the 3rd Wednesday of each month. The first Muster will be January 16th. Come out and meet, share stories and exchange cruising tips with your fellow cruisers. There will be nibbles and other finger foods served. Jan 16th is also the beginning of the Winter Speaker Series, so you have two reasons to gather at the Club.

This week the newly refreshed Cruiser webpages will be live. Please let us know of anything you’d like added.
