| Featured Beer

Good Time IPA

Session IPA 4% ABV

Good Time Session I.P.A. delivers fruity hop aromas and full flavour in an easy-to-enjoy light ale. Brewed with organic nelson sauvin and centennial hops, the recipe adds wheat and oats to barley malts for a satisfying and uncompromising craft beer experience.

History and Style

A session I.P.A. is a lower-alcohol expression of an India Pale Ale that highlights approachable hop aroma and flavour, without intense bitterness. The hop-derived citrus and tropical fruit notes lead into a fuller mouthfeel than might otherwise be expected from a light ale.

Tasting Notes

Good Time Session IPA pours gold with white foam. The aroma offers a combination of citrus, gooseberry, pineapple flavours and aromas. The flavour is juicy with subtle hop bitterness. The body is light and refreshing. The finish is clean and lingeringly hoppy.

Junior Sailing

| Surplus Flying Juniors Available to Members

The Flying Junior fleet served many years for the Junior Sailing and Queen Sailing Team programs. The boats are no longer serviceable for Learn to Sail purposes, but could be good project boat for a member who wants to take it to a smaller cottage lake.

Boats are offered to members at no cost, but a donation to the Boat Replacement Fund is recommended. We don't have equipment for a full fleet, so boats will be offered on a first come first serve basis. All boats will require some work to become operational, and may be missing smaller hardware.

Contact the Sailing Manager sailingmanager@kingstonyachtclub.com or Yard Steward yard@kingstonyachtclub.com for more details.

Sailing

| Blind Worlds

We are getting closer to the opening ceremonies for the Blind Fleet Sailing World Championship Regatta September 1-8, 2019 here at KYC! A full schedule of activities will be available next week so stay tuned. We are still looking for volunteers for both on the water and at the club positions for the week. If you are interested in participating as a volunteer, please let me know soon! There will be one more fundraising activity for the regatta - Music on the Pier - on August 10th. This event will feature live music and a silent auction on the breakwall – it’s going to be fun! We have a number of donated items for the auction but can always use more if you have something you would like to contribute. As well, if you would like to donate to the regatta directly, please click here. I hope to see you all out at the regatta and at our event in August!

| Billets Needed

As our busy regatta season commences, the club is looking for potential billets for the first 3 weeks of August. If you would be willing to house a fellow sailor, please send an email to our sailing manager Fraser Smith at sailingmanager@kingstonyachtclub.com

| Setting the Mark

Setting the Mark is the title of the KYC history book which will be published as part of our 125 th Anniversary celebrations. The Editorial Board would be grateful for any and all suggestions about who, what and when should be included and for any and all illustrations and photos that members may wish to see included. | Sailing

This Saturday (tomorrow) we have the re-scheduled Single/Double Handed Race. Skippers meeting is at 0930 and 1st signal at 1030. There was too much wind on the original June date.

Well done to all the participants in last Saturday's Partridge Bowl. Unofficial finish order was: Solevento (Deluzio) and winner of Bowl + mostly gin contents, Shizaru (Davis), Signature (Sellens), Selene (Vines), Microcat (Gibson). Rumour has it that a couple of "finishers" didn't actually cross the finish line (i.e. "between the North End of the KYC Dock and the easternmost KYC Mooring Ball ")... confessions anyone? A great time was had by all 40+ revellers. As usual, big thanks to Chef Neil for the super food and our Junior Past Commodore Ross Cameron for piloting the Orange Peel with its most precious contents.

Our June-July Thursday Series have wrapped up. Congratulations to the following winners:
PHRF 1: 1st Dragon Bait (Sellens) by 0.4 points(!), 2nd Force 10 (Crowson), 3rd Long Time Running (Hull)
PHRF 2: 1st Vandal (Tattersall), 2nd Selene (Vines), 3rd Teyma (Weguelin)
