Town Hall Meeting - Harbour Redevelopment
Wednesday, July 3rd - 1900hrs

The Club has been working with Shoreplan Engineering to develop designs for the harbour layout. This process has progressed to the point where a number of designs have been reviewed and evaluated with respect to our requirements. These design options, as well as our preferred option are now available for membership review on the Club website, and will be circulated to representatives of the key user groups at the club for detailed comments and feedback. We do not have final costs for all aspects of the project, but for the preferred option, the estimate for the dock and breakwater components, supplied and installed has come in slightly under budget. These design options are not final, and input from members will help us refine the options.
We are planning a Town Hall Session for July 3rd, at 19:00
to present Harbour designs and review the project status.

The New Harbour website can be found here:
www.kingstonyachtclub.ca/newharbour/
Any questions related to the project should be directed to:harbourquestions@kingstonyachtclub.ca

ATTENTION ALL DRY MOORING HOLDERS

It is time to ensure that all boats on the breakwall and in the yard are suitably registered with the main office.

If you have registered your boat then please make sure you have attached the current year's transom sticker to your boat.

If you have not registered your boat then please do so at the main office at which time you will be issued a transom sticker.

As of Thursday, June 27th boats on club property without a transom sticker will be removed.

Thanking you in advance for what will hopefully be your prompt attention to this matter. Please send along any questions to Glenn at manager@kingstonyachtclub.ca or drop by the office in-person.

Bar Television
You may have noticed the new Television at the Bar. In case you’re wondering, here’s how we’d like things to work with our new bar TV. The TV remote will sit on the bar and will be available to members who wish to watch. All we ask is that you be respectful of others in the area with regard to the volume. We appreciate the feedback already received and request questions or comments be directed to entertainment@kingstonyachtclub.ca

TGIF Sail
Friday, July 12th

In case you missed the first one, the goal here is to get non-boaters
on the water for an enjoyable evening on the lake!

If you are interested in participating email Glenn at manager@kingstonyachtclub.ca and indicate whether you are a boater or non-boater or sign up at the office or bar. The evening will cap off with social time, munchies, food special etc!

Message from the Commodore

Our sailing season has finally begun and as you've started gravitating back towards the water and our Clubhouse, I’m sure you've noticed some changes. Members of the Board of Directors, including those focused on Membership and House, and Club management have been working together to improve the experience that the Club provides to its members, particularly those members without boats. In addition, we’re also looking to encourage members to come down and use their Club and support the food & beverage operations. A vibrant and healthy Club is one that is full of members taking advantage of the facilities and services and fully enjoying themselves and the company of their fellow members....Click here to read more.

Sharks for Sale

The Club is selling two Sharks from its fleet, and will use the money toward the purchase of a replacement in better condition. These two Sharks will be moved offsite this week, but are being put up for sale for $1250 each. Both boats are in fair condition and need some TLC. Both include a mast and rudder and a 2-Stroke engine.
Trailers are not included.
They are priced to move and would make excellent project boats.

Robert Davis

Robert Davis has now returned from sailing in Europe and is very happy with his progression.

The recent ISAF World Ranking List that was published on June 17 has Robert ranked #23 of over 800 sailors on the list.

Robert is now the top ranked Canadian on this list but still has a way to go to achieve his goals.

He is back in Kingston for the summer training for the North American Championships and the CORK events. His next big international test will be at the World Championships in Oman in November.

August 16, 17, 18 Picton Jazz Cruise Weekend

For information contact John Kitney, kitneyj@kingston.net

Plans are in the works for the annual cruise weekend in Picton, August 16 -18. For those that are interested we have pre-booked some tickets for the Saturday night show at the Regent Theatre (“The Canadian Songbook”). For details of this years’ Jazz Festival program visit http://www.pecjazz.org

You don’t have to be a jazz enthusiast to enjoy the Picton weekend sail and related activities. This KYC Cruisers’ event has been running since 2008 and participation peaked about two years ago with 40 club members and friends. For those that can make it to the Picton Harbour on Friday we will arrange a restaurant outing together. For Saturday evening (after our “boaters and friends happy hour”) we plan to have a catered group meal (about $25 per person), after which ticket holders can head over to the Regent for the show. The town is pretty, the sailing is fun, the company is superb - and the Saturday night show this year should have wide audience appeal.
