Enjoy quality sailing in the Kingston area without owning a boat. Community Club skippers have access to our Shark fleet, and Jesse (C&C 24). Routinely maintained and properly equipped, these boats offer the key to budget sailing in the Kingston area.
Known for their seaworthiness and versatility, Sharks have crossed the Atlantic and Canadian sailors have wintered in the tropics aboard their Sharks.
To become a skipper in the Community Club, you need to join Kingston Yacht Club as a Single or Family member. Please visit the Join KYC tab on our website for the benefits and prices. Applicants with previous sailing experience need to apply to the Community Club by telling us what boats you have sailed and any qualifications held. An on water orientation and evaluation by one of our Adult Learn To Sail (ALTS) skippers or Community Club members will be arranged by the KYC office.
If you are new to sailing, it is recommended that you take our ALTS eight evening course. ALTS courses are available to Associate members on a first come first served basis. Associate members of KYC enjoy racing or cruising as keelboat crew, clubhouse privileges and social events. After taking our course, upgrading to a Single or Family membership is required to become a Community Club skipper.
