| A BIG Thank You to our Volunteers

A BIG thank you to our Volunteers.

Fellow Members, please take a moment to thank the following volunteers for jobs well done on Saturday and Sunday!

In no particular order… Mary Westerland, Laura Tattersall, Fran O’Hearne, Mary Wilson, Kevin Delusio, Dan Marshall, Graham Mutch, Kelley Hague, Rick Sellens, John Kitney, Ross Cameron, Rob Colwell, Ralph Shaw, Chris Cutler, Ken Martin, Andrew Kelm, Mike Charrette, Don and Chris Currie, Steve Harrison, Jim Beatson…and others who came out of the woodwork to lend a hand or two here and there.. (I may have missed a name or two - there are a lot of names… my apologies). We had a great gang of “herders”, slingers, hookers, sling movers, liners and pushers, all working in sync to pull off a very good haul.

I’d like to thank you all for giving a day or two of your time to help each other out.

We managed to overcome a few obstacles for sure: the wind, a late arriving crane, transmission trouble, illegally parked cars… but we got it all done, and in record time!
I’m going to compliment myself on a pretty good plan, but the best drawn plans by anybody are "good fer nothin” without intuitive, skilled, savvy and synchronized participants to execute it. We have plenty of skilled and savvy ones. Thank you very much to all for a job well done.

At this point I’d like to reinforce the important role of volunteerism for our Club.
We are a small Club with limited resources. Our greatest resource by far, are our members, whose support towards volunteerism sustains and advances Kingston Yacht Club. Volunteerism makes Kingston Yacht Club punch WAY above it's weight… WAY above. Without all the free brains and brawn, we would be nothing. A marina- maybe (and falling apart at the water’s edge).

Kingston Yacht Club needs volunteers for every aspect of its being. The future of KYC depends on it. If haulout proves anything, it may be that helping out at KYC is a fun, satisfying, and successful endeavour. I can vouch for that, having now conducted this show for about five years, while serving on the Board for five. It’s very rewarding and I encourage members to give some of their time and expertise to help KYC thrive!

Again, Thank you!

Cheers,
Peter Cohrs.
Rear Commodore.

| A BIG Thank You to our Volunteers

From the Community Club Committee – Thank you all Volunteers!

Many thanks to the Skippers: Ted Goldring, David Marshall, Kelly Hague, David McDonald, Mary Wilson and Kevin Lucitt for attending Jessie's de-masting and haulout. Jessie is in her cradle next to our Community Club Sharks. Many thanks to our Yard Steward Brad Strawbridge for hauling our Sharks, winterizing motors, and Jessie's head.

Thank you David McDonald and Phil Hart for checking and storing Leprechaun, Ola and Impulse sails. We have a received a donation of two Shark mainsails! If one or two skippers are available to help check and fold sails for Moonshine, weather looks dry Fri, Sat & Sun. If you can help 10 AM Fri morning (November 4th) and/or 10 AM Sat Nov 5th and/or 10 AM Sun Nov 6th , please leave me a voicemail and preferred day at 613-650-1614.

Thank you all,
Peter French
KYC ALTS & Community Club Committee

| A special thank you

We would like to extend a special thank you to Graham Mutch who provided immeasurable assistance and labour contributions with the pack up this year. Wihtout his help our yard staff could not have had Jemmet's packed up, the cradles spread, and the central dock back together in time for the haulout. Thank you Graham for stepping up to the challenge and ensuring our haulout was possible and on time.

On behalf of Brad, and the rest of the KYC Staff, Thank you!

| Missing Laser

If you were down at the Club last weekend, you would have noticed that we were extremly busy. In all the "hussle & bussle" we had a laser go missing. (We think someone simply took home the wrong one...). We would appreciate if everyone could please check your boat to ensure you took home the correct one!

| Beer of the Week

Broadhead's Dark Horse Stout

Broadhead's Dark Horse Stout is a fullbodied, rich and creamy oatmeal stout that bristles with bold, unbridled taste. Blending roasted malt and oatmeal for a solid footing, this smooth, dark beer has shades of bitterness that gives Dark Horse the perfect edge.
