A Very Happy New Year to All our Members and Family!

New Years Well Wishes

Greetings All,

Welcome to 2020!
Thanks to all who attended the Commodore’s Levee.
And a number of stalwart members showed up to ring in the New Year.
Brandon was, as usual, run off his feet behind the bar as well as serving splt pea and ham soup- yummee!

After the Levee, the Commodores three and Regatta Chair Robert Weguelin trooped over to City Hall and chatted up the Mayor and MP Mark Gerretsen.
We were of course, extolling the virtues of KYC and sailing in general, but with some emphasis on the success of the World Blinds Regatta.
I think the message made it through, as we took ample time to press our message…. and the powers-that-be appeared to be quite receptive!

KYC is closed until January 14, but the first Cruisers Muster of the decade is on the 15th and of course everyone is welcome to the first Friday that KYC is open, on the 17th.
Now that the sun has start it’s ascent and the days are slowly lengthening, no doubt you are all planning spring projects to your boats.
Hope spring is eternal!!
No place to better discuss problems and solutions that round the tables at KYC.

I noticed this morning that the IJC has opened the Moses Saunders dam, and is letting 10500 m3/sec thru, which is about 4000m3/sec more than this time last year. This is encouraging, except that the water is still about 1.5’ above historical average and Lake Erie is sending us 1500m3/sec more than this time last year. Here’s hoping that Montreal doesn’t freeze up any time soon, and that the water can flow out of here- full bore for a good while, to drain down our lake a bit. Hope springs eternal!

I am working on the first “Currents” issue of the decade and I hope to publish the week of Jan 13.

Hope to see you soon at KYC.

Cheers, Peter Cohrs
