where great friends have great times!

ATTENTION ALL DRY MOORING HOLDERS

It is time to ensure that all boats on the breakwall and in the yard are suitably registered with the main office.

If you have registered your boat then please make sure you have attached the current year's transom sticker to your boat.

If you have not registered your boat then please do so at the main office at which time you will be issued a transom sticker.

As of Thursday, June 27th boats on club property without a transom sticker will be removed.

Thanking you in advance for what will hopefully be your prompt attention to this matter. Please send along any questions to Glenn at manager@kingstonyachtclub.ca or drop by the office in-person.

Parking Stickers

Parking stickers are back in stock and available for pickup at the main bar. Please have your license plate number available at the time of pickup.

TGIF Sail

The TGIF Sail was a grand success last Friday. Five boats took out about 16 Associate members for an evening sail around the Kingston area followed by drinks and dinner at the club. Pictured below Martin Schueder enjoys his sail on a Catalina 30.

The next TGIF Sail is planned for July 12th

Watch the Knotmeter for details.

August 16, 17, 18 Picton Jazz Cruise Weekend

For information contact John Kitney, kitneyj@kingston.net

Plans are in the works for the annual cruise weekend in Picton, August 16 -18. For those that are interested we have pre-booked some tickets for the Saturday night show at the Regent Theatre (“The Canadian Songbook”). For details of this years’ Jazz Festival program visit http://www.pecjazz.org

You don’t have to be a jazz enthusiast to enjoy the Picton weekend sail and related activities. This KYC Cruisers’ event has been running since 2008 and participation peaked about two years ago with 40 club members and friends. For those that can make it to the Picton Harbour on Friday we will arrange a restaurant outing together. For Saturday evening (after our “boaters and friends happy hour”) we plan to have a catered group meal (about $25 per person), after which ticket holders can head over to the Regent for the show. The town is pretty, the sailing is fun, the company is superb - and the Saturday night show this year should have wide audience appeal.

Harbour Redevelopment Update

The Club has been working with Shoreplan Engineering to develop designs for the harbour layout. This process has progressed to the point where a number of designs have been reviewed and evaluated with respect to our requirements. These design options, as well as a preferred option will shortly be made available for membership review on the Club website, and will be circulated to representatives of the key user groups at the club for detailed comments and feedback. We do not have final costs for all aspects of the project, but for the preferred option, the estimate for the dock and breakwater components, supplied and installed has come in slightly under budget. These design options are not final, and input from members will help us refine the options.

We are planning a Town Hall Session for July 3rd, to present Harbour designs and review the project status.

The New Harbour website can be found here:
www.kingstonyachtclub.ca/newharbour/
Any questions related to the project should be directed to: harbourquestions@kingstonyachtclub.ca

Cruiser's Sunday Sail
Sunday June 23rd

Judith and Robert Mackenzie invite the Cruising Fleet Sunday Sail on June 23rd to their place on Amherst Island. The plan is to raft at their mooring or anchor nearby and have lunch ashore before heading back to KYC later in the afternoon. If you have a dinghy it would be useful.
Departure from KYC at 10:15. It is about a two hour sail. If the weather or sea conditions are not suitable come by land.

Rain or shine it’s a GO.

For additional information please contact Judith or Robert Mackenzie at
robertmackenzie@bell.net or 613 548-8332.
On Amherst Island call 613-384-6861.
