Keelboat Racing at KYC is made possible when members volunteer for Race Committee duty. An initial Race Committee Duty Roster is created at the beginning of the season. See the Sections 17.3 and 19 in the KYC 2023 Notice of Race & Sailing Instructions (link to be posted) for information about the duty roster program.

To volunteer for a Race Committee duty or swap an assigned duty with another boat, please send email with details to race@kingstonyachtclub.ca

New members looking to crew are encouraged to introduce themselves to other members, who can put them in touch with a skipper who is looking for crew.

If you are crew looking for a boat to race on or a skipper looking for crew, you can view and add to the crew bank below:

Also, if you arrive shortly after 5 pm on Tuesday/Thursday evening (races start at 6 pm), ready to go racing, there’s a good chance someone will be looking for more crew that night! Ask around on the boats with sailors preparing to race.

Finally, you can help on the Race Committee boat (the large orange motorboat at the gas dock). It typically departs around 5:30 pm for the race course. This is a great way to learn more about keelboat racing at KYC, meet other racers and perhaps learn of crew openings.
