Notice of Special General Meeting (September 28th - 7pm)

At the August board meeting the board voted to bring the issue of
fee changes, capital improvement fees, and entrance fees to the
membership for consideration at a Special General Meeting.  
The date for the SGM will be September 28th at 7:00pm.
Anyone wishing to participate electronically must notify the main
office well in advance.


Carruthers Series This Weekend

Skippers Meeting: 9:30 AM First Signal: 10:00 AM

It is planned to have up to three courses sailed. After the first race, subsequent races will be started as quickly as possible. More details are in the Sailor's handbook.


Amherst Island Pursuit Race 
& Able Sail Kingston Regatta 
Saturday, September 13, 2014
Skipper's Meeting: 9:00 AM -- First Start: 10:00 AM

Presented by:

The 14th Annual Amherst Island Pursuit Race will for the third time run as a fundraiser for Able Sail Kingston which offers recreational and competitive sailing instruction for persons with disabilities. This event is completely run and organized by local volunteers. The 2014 fundraising goal is $5000.

  • 26.4 Nautical Mile Course
  • Fastest Corrected Time and Yacht Name in each division will be noted on event plaque which will serve as record for next year’s event
  • Open to all lake Ontario sailors including BQYC, CBYC, KYC, & PEYC
  • Spinnaker and White Sail Handicaps available
  • Staggered Starts based on PHRF Handicap
  • Rendezvous Finish at Loyalist Cove Marina
  • Post Race Barbecue & Party with DJ! BYOB, Dinner starts at 5:30 PM.
  • Apres-BBQ Campfire.. it might go late!
  • Rafting Available for out-of-town participants!

Sophie Kiwala Presents KYC with Trillium Grant Plaque


On behalf of Kingston Yacht Club, Commodore Chris Walmsley officially accepts the Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant Plaque from Kingston and the Islands M.P.P. Sophie Kiwala.


Alcohol Outside Licensed Areas

Signs have been posted at the main entrance and on the gate at the west end of the front porch to identify the limits of our licensed area. The entrance driveway, the beach and the break wall are not licensed. Please refrain from taking alcohol out of the licensed area. 


Racing Update

The August weeknight series winners are:

PHRF 1: Cara Mia (1st), Benecuda (2nd), Seattle Sleup (3rd)
PHRF 2: Jammin' (1st), Mindemoya (2nd), Selene (3rd)
Sharks: JLS (1st), Dartos (2nd), Shanti (3rd)
With only the September series to go, the fleet championships are still on the line!
Weekend events remaining: Carruthers Series this Saturday and the Chase Race on Saturday Oct 4.
The Sailing Committee will be meeting in early September to start
working on improvements for next year. Please share your
views with your fleet captains and members of sailing committee.

a boat!


CORK is Looking for Volunteers for its Fall Regatta!

CORK is looking for volunteers for its Fall Regatta, September 28 & 29. Volunteers are needed for both on water and shore tasks. Event schedule and description of tasks is on the CORK website http://www.cork.org/volunteers/

Gas Dock Hours

Gas Dock hours will be 9am - 5pm, 7 days a week. During the week members are encouraged to make appointments for the Gas Dock. Our Yard Steward, Brad Strawbridge will be handling the Gas Dock in addition to his usual duties and may be away from the Gas Dock at times.


Food and Beverage Update

Beau's Fall Seasonal, the Night Marzen Oktoberfest style Lager is here. We also have a few bottles left of Beau's Festivale, their summer seasonal, which will not be available for much longer. 

All selections come with a seat on the best waterfront patio in Kingston. Your F&B staff plan to bring in a variety of new beers over the fall, so stay tuned to the Knotmeter for updates.

Paddle Boards and Kayaks

Members wishing to take out our water equipment are asked to do so at the main bar. You will be asked to sign a waiver (the first time) as well as read some basic usage guidelines also posted here: http://kingstonyachtclub.ca/waterequipment

Keys for the equipment are to be returned to the main bar immediately after use.
