| 2018 RACING PLANS SURVEY

KYC's Sailing Committee is conducting a survey of boat owners for their plans for racing in this year's monthly weeknight series & weekend events. The results of the survey will help us plan our racing program for 2018 and (if needed) fine tune our Sailing Instructions.

Boat owners were emailed the survey today. Please complete it by Monday February 19.

A KYC Currents February edition was mailed this week on February 7th. If you did not receive the publication it is available on our website at https://kingstonyachtclub.com/index.cfm?ID=365&ViewItem=Yes&IDln=2348

Cherry Revue

Cherry Gose - 4.5% ABV

Beau’s proudly presents its newest artistic creation, Cherry Revue! This gose features the classic duo of barley and wheat malts, and puts organic cherry juice centre stage to shine. Sea salt plays a supporting role in this easy-to-enjoy oeuvre that leaves audiences wanting more.
Cherry Revue pours hazy pink grapefruit with a white foam. The aroma offers cherry, citrus and sea spray. The flavour is tangy and fruity. The finish is tart, dry and a touch salty.

Sailing

| Sailing

KYC will be hosting the following regattas this summer:

  • 29er Skiffs Training Camp and Canadians Regatta (July 28 - Aug 6)
  • EYC (July 12-14), Shark Worlds (Aug 26 - Sept 1)
  • IOM Eastern Canadians (Sept 8-9)

KYC will also be hosting a variety of social events for regattas being run by CORK, including the Viper North Americans.

In Cruising, we are still looking for 1 or 2 people to take the reins in this program. It would involve communicating with the cruisers about their needs, attending in a monthly Sailing Committee meeting during the off-season, and securing volunteers to organise the individual events (see last year's list in the "Sailing / Cruising" area on our web site). There is already a lot of content (event details & resources) that's been created for use in the Sailors handbook, etc. Extensive cruising experience is not required; just some modest time availability and a willingness to help.

Community Club is considering adding few dinghies (perhaps Lasers) to its fleet. The approach would be similar to what we currently have for the Sharks and Jessie (i.e. with respect to booking and sailor checkout). We are looking for members with used & no longer needed (but still in reasonable shape) boats they'd be willing to donate (or sell perhaps for a very modest fee).

If you have thoughts you'd like to share about any of our Sailing programs, the following are your reps on the Sailing Committee:

Racing (Fleet Captains): Steve Harrison & Peter Kraszewski (PHRF 1), John Vines (PHRF 2), Robin Wynne-Edwards (Sharks)
Regattas: Robert Weguelin
Radio Controlled: Paul Switzer & John Lowther
Community Club: Peter French
Women In Wind: Mary Wilson
Cruising: Ken Martin (acting)
Able Sail: Audrey Kobayashi & John Curtis

Their email addresses and phone numbers are available in the "Member Area" on our website.

Sailing (water-based, that is) is getting closer...
